Position Description:
Successful candidates will key code medical adverse event information from report forms using International Medical Terminology (MedDRA).
Coders must also be able to resolve discrepancies between coded terms and reported events.
Requirements:
Advanced Degree in health-related discipline (RPh, RN, MD,
PharmD);
Clinical experience with understanding of medical
terminology;
Experience with medical coding preferred;
Ability to analyze and resolve problems;
Experience in QA/QC preferred;
1+ years experience with IBM PC or compatible and Windows
95;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
US citizenship or permanent residency required.

Director of Medical Coding (DMC)
Position Description:
The DMC will be responsible for directing PSI's government and commercial efforts related to medical coding. The individual will be responsible for all management activities related to client and personnel issues including client and industry presentations. In addition, the DMC will have coding responsibilities that include developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with customer standards, estimating coding efforts and resource requirements for prospective and current clients, providing input on the information technology infrastructure as it relates to coding activities, and building PSI's institutional knowledge on MedDRA and it's evolving structure.
Candidates must have an advanced degree in a health related disciplined (e.g. Medical Doctor, Reg. Nurse, Reg. Pharmacist, Pharm D.), a clinical understanding of medical terminology, medical term coding, adverse event reporting, and the ability to analyze, research and resolve problems. The individual must also have at least 5 years experience working in the medical field, hospital environment or pharmacovigilience sector of the pharmaceutical industry; possess strong oral and written communication skills; be flexible for frequent travel within and outside of the U.S. and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with the ability to pass a DHHS security background investigation per contract requirements.
